It’s the matric results of the year 2024 that will be released on the 14th of January, which is leaving many students waiting with high expectations. There are therefore facilities introduced by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) for all matriculants, so they can access the results easily.
Accessing Matric Results Online
Results can be checked online on the official site of the Department of Basic Education (www.education.gov.za) starting from 06:00 on the date of release. All that matriculants need to do is enter their exam number to view the results without even having to visit their school or exam center.
Mobile Access for Convenience
For those lacking internet connection, there is an alternative with mobile services. Using USSD codes or SMS service, students can simply receive results on their phones. This quick and low-cost solution comes in handy for students living in distant locations.
Publishing Results in Newspapers Amid Privacy Concerns
Even as its counterparts, the Information Regulator raised grave concern regarding this, the DBE is still going to publish matric results in newspapers. Some critics quite argue that by so doing, the DBE is contravening Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). However, DBE spokesperson Elijah Mhlanga made it clear that the Department thrust this revised approach by excluding students’ names and surnames and displaying examination numbers only to privacy concerns.
Collecting Official Statements
Students will start collecting their official statements of results from the school venues or examination centers starting on January 14 from 8 am.
On January 13, Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube will make a formal announcement regarding the national matric outcomes, shedding light on how the entire country has performed.
